obligatory Santa pic

Ahh, there's nothing like torturing the youngest at Christmastime. Dress them adorably and make them wait in line for an hour-and-a-half only to be thrust at some wierdo with a scary beard they've never seen before. Throw in a little too much heat and some canine teeth making their way to the world, and you have a complete meltdown. Santa told me we had two options: he could hold him screaming for the picture, or someone else could hold him. Was I naughty this year?

Deadline Met!

Ok I was off to a great start with the photo a day challenge, but quickly fell by the wayside. I did, however, meet my goal of completing a book for each kid and uploading them to be printed in time for Christmas delivery. Woo hoo!! Not only that, but I then compiled two more books, which contained all of the kids book pages, plus customized covers and extra layouts - one for my FIL and one for my MIL. So here are the kids books. Ok so I cheated on all 5 of these books and used "Quick Pages" from TLC, but you know, I don't think any of the recipients will call me a cheater!

Day 5 Photo(s)

I am not even going to apologize for missing yesterday, I was hit with a stomach bug that robbed me of a day of my life - but I'm back today. I took Nate to the dr this morning who diagnosed him with "walking pneumonia" so we spent the day together. They're so clingy when they're sick, it's sweet, until it hits my lower back! He's 27 pounds already! Anyways, here's what I came up with. I picked up the camera to photograph something else entirely but he's a camera magnet, what can I say. I hope we're not supposed to narrow it down to one a day as part of the challenge.

Day 2: Photo A Day

Alex was in the town parade with his karate studio. The weather was perfect - overcast and chilly but not COLD. Nate was sick last night and today but he really perked up and enjoyed the parade. I took 150 pics, and got a handful of nice ones.

Book 2 completed, Dec 13 deadline looms

I finished the second book and uploaded it just now, figured I'd post the whole thing here. I think I'm also going to turn that cover page into a poster, maybe add the student creed to the bottom. Now I just need to come up with 3 more and complete them before the 13th - along with any calendars and such.

Photo A Day Challenge - 1

I just read about this challenge and decided to join, here's day 1 from my current project. Took these shots of Alex in sparring class this morning. I am loving my new 85mm 1.8 Canon lens (for which I sold off all my sizzix). Learned some photo editing tips in my photoshop class, they're slowing me down on the scrapping but the photos are looking better!

Little Prince Album

Nothing like pressure to get a girl going. I want to give each of the kids a photobook for Christmas - I decided this yesterday. I started with Nate's, his is really the easiest! I used Krystal Hartley's "Little Prince" download available through TLC. The quick page element is 12 pages, so I added two pages to make it standard board book size. Now I'm just trying to decide whether to do board books for all of them - the rest of them are a little old for board books, but the board books have half the pages of the photobooks, lol!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . .

We had quite a difficult few weeks with my sister in the ICU, Aunt Nena in the hospital, Ken's dad going through Cancer. Then of course there's the joy of Thanksgiving get-togethers. I'm excited to bring on December. Our awesome neighbors put up our Christmas lights for us - amazing what men will do for beer and wings! This is definitely my favorite time of year. Here's a pic of our house all lit up, we're not quite finished, but I had to start the photo experiments.

Clownin' Around

Krystal Hartley's kit, "Jan's Happy Place", is perfect for Disney pics. It happened to also be perfect for my 2007 Halloween pics! I like the way these turned out, hopefully soon I'll get time to finish them!

My First Assignment

How convenient that the colors of Krystal Hartley's Spooked Digi Kit match my photos from Halloween last year?! It's for sale at Polkadot Potato Maybe I could finish scrapping last year before Halloween this year!

Kicking and screaming

I've never "gotten" the whole blog thing, so therefore I've tried to ignore them. Eventually I began checking a couple of them regularly - my all time favorite scrapbook superstar Stacy Julian, my design goddess Krystal Hartley, my TLC upline Jan Pepe, my creative downline Rachel Stiverson. Still couldn't bring myself to do it. But each year I challenge myself to learn one new really quality valuable skill or accomplish one really big project. I signed up for a photography class, which led to a photoshop class, which led me to apply for KH's design team . . . so here I am.

In college one of my professors told me I suffered from a common ailment among women: imposter's complex, where we live in fear of discovery by others that we are not as good as they think we are. I'm excited about my new post, but nervous as well!

THE PRESSURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better late than never, right?
